PC Police Crucifies Julianne Hough

Julianne with friend

Julianne has found herself in the midst of a controversy after darkening her skin for a Halloween costume.  She went as her favorite character, Crazy Eyes, from the show Orange is the New Black.  Julianne's friends all dressed as characters from the show.
As soon as her brother, Derek, tweeted a picture of the group, the PC police have been out in full force.   Blasting Julianne for wearing "blackface".    At first I didn't think this story even deserved mentioning, thinking it would all blow over as it seemed like a nonstory to me.  But of course America being what is today, the media has decided to create a controversy where none exists.
Let's all have a little common sense shall we?  If Julianne were really racist would she just decide to out herself to the world?  I doubt it.   Her actual crime was being naive.  She wanted to pay homage to an actress she admired and she created a Halloween costume.  She did not take into account the people who look for racism in every nook and cranny of the planet.  She made a bad choice.  She has apologized for it.  But apparently that is not enough for the PC crowd.  Perhaps we should tar and feather her on national TV.  Think that would satisfy them?  I doubt it.

The people who shout about things like Halloween costumes diminish the true incidents of racism.  They yell so loudly about every perceived slight that people eventually tune them out.  Like the boy who cried wolf.  Nobody listens to the things that really are an injustice and that would not include a young actress who wore a Halloween costume.
I guess the lesson we should take away here is stick to your own race.  If you are white you are not allowed to portray a black character at Halloween.  If you do you are not a fan, you are a racist.  If you are black, it is allowed to portray a white character, such as Wendy Williams dressing up as Dolly Parton.  Because racism is exclusive to the white race, right?
Sometimes a Halloween costume is just a Halloween costume.  Now I say let's accept Julianne's apology and move on to the next victim of the PC police.
