PC Police Crucifies Julianne Hough

Julianne with friend

Julianne has found herself in the midst of a controversy after darkening her skin for a Halloween costume.  She went as her favorite character, Crazy Eyes, from the show Orange is the New Black.  Julianne's friends all dressed as characters from the show.
As soon as her brother, Derek, tweeted a picture of the group, the PC police have been out in full force.   Blasting Julianne for wearing "blackface".    At first I didn't think this story even deserved mentioning, thinking it would all blow over as it seemed like a nonstory to me.  But of course America being what is today, the media has decided to create a controversy where none exists.
Let's all have a little common sense shall we?  If Julianne were really racist would she just decide to out herself to the world?  I doubt it.   Her actual crime was being naive.  She wanted to pay homage to an actress she admired and she created a Halloween costume.  She did not take into account the people who look for racism in every nook and cranny of the planet.  She made a bad choice.  She has apologized for it.  But apparently that is not enough for the PC crowd.  Perhaps we should tar and feather her on national TV.  Think that would satisfy them?  I doubt it.

The people who shout about things like Halloween costumes diminish the true incidents of racism.  They yell so loudly about every perceived slight that people eventually tune them out.  Like the boy who cried wolf.  Nobody listens to the things that really are an injustice and that would not include a young actress who wore a Halloween costume.
I guess the lesson we should take away here is stick to your own race.  If you are white you are not allowed to portray a black character at Halloween.  If you do you are not a fan, you are a racist.  If you are black, it is allowed to portray a white character, such as Wendy Williams dressing up as Dolly Parton.  Because racism is exclusive to the white race, right?
Sometimes a Halloween costume is just a Halloween costume.  Now I say let's accept Julianne's apology and move on to the next victim of the PC police.
Tell us what you think in the comments.

Teddy Sears Goes Psycho on Julianne Hough

Julianne is busy working on her new movie "Curve".  The actress tweeted "Early morning car ride to the desert."  Seems the location for shooting is in the desert.

Later Julianne tweeted 5:30 a.m. wake up call, dust in the face, sun burned skin, boo boo on my pinkie.  Sounds like a rough shoot for the actress!

Julianne's co star for the movie is Teddy Sears.  Sears currently stars on Showtimes's "Masters of Sex".  He has also appeared in FX's "American Horror Story", "666 Park Avenue" and CBS's "Blue Bloods".

Julianne & Mario Lopez on Extra

The movie will be distributed by Universal Pictures as part of its first look deal with Blumhouse Productions.  Blumhouse had had hits with "The Purge" and "Insidious".

Julianne will play a bride to be who picks up a hitchhiker only to discover he is a psychopath.  She crashes her car in an attempt to escape only to find herself trapped inside the car with him.

The horror/suspense genre is a new venture for Hough.  It will be nice to see Julianne stretch her acting muscles in such an intense situation.  Sounds like an exciting ride!

Julianne Hough & Derek Hough at Griffith Park

It hasn’t been all work for Julianne though, she has been out with friends.  Julianne and brother, Derek, attended the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride Opening Night on October 10th in Griffith Park.  Earlier in the month Julianne attended Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights at the Roosevelt Hotel with a group of friends.  The group included Derek Hough, Nina Dobrev, Lily Collins, Selena Gomez, Emile Hirsch and Francesca Eastwood.  Lots of scary Halloween fun!

Hough was also spotted in Los Feliz with the hood of her car up.  It doesn’t appear that she was actually having car trouble though.  It seems she was rehearsing for an upcoming role.

Hough’s next movie role is Blumhouse Productions “Curve”.  She plays a bride to be who picks up a charming hitchhiker who turns out to be a psycho.  We can only speculate that the rehearsals pertain to her Curve role.

Media Invents Controversy Between Julianne Hough And Mark Ballas

This weeks Dancing with the Stars saw Christina Milian and Mark Ballas depart the competition.   The couple ended up in the bottom two with Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani despite receiving high marks from the judges for their routine.  This year's format combines the judges scores with viewer votes from the previous week.

Milian's elimination has led to speculation that Julianne Hough's stint as guest judge contibuted to her early exit.  During Julianne's critique of Ballas and Milian, she remarked, "I have danced with Mark.  You have to stand in front to make sure you're seen."   She then went on to give the couple an eight, the same score as the other two judges.

The media took those remarks and ran with it, calling Hough's review scathing. Hardly. They have attempted to turn Julianne's remarks into some vendetta against her former dancing partner, Mark Ballas.  And now with Milian and Ballas being eliminated, the blame is being placed on Julianne.

No one bothers to listen to Ballas himself, who told Good Morning America it was just a tongue in cheek moment between him and Julianne.  There was no animosity, no feud, no vendetta.  Instead the two enjoyed dinner together after the show.  But this isn't the picture the media wants to paint.

Julianne has said she wasn't dissing Mark.  They are long time friends.  They have both stated they are like brother and sister.  Still the media stirs the pot.

The elimination has more to do with Milian's low fan base.  Viewers are just not familiar with Milian.  Even Carrie Ann Inaba agreed with Julianne's remarks.  Inaba stated on her Parade blog that Milian was Forgettable.  Inaba stated the star just hadn't done anything to stand out.

Such is the nature of DWTS eliminations.  Sometimes the judges favorites are not the viewers favorites.  At any rate, blaming Julianne for Milian's departure is a stretch by any means.

I enjoyed seeing Julianne at the judge's table.  It was a refreshing change from Len Goodman.  She gave constructive criticism and advice, instead of chiding everyone for not being in hold long enough or too much messing about, two of Goodman's favorite pet peeves.

Let us know your opinion of the Hough vs Ballas media feud in the comments

Julianne Hough Dances Into Judges Seat on Dancing With The Stars Tonight

Julianne makes her return to Dancing With the Stars tonight!  She will be filling in for Len Goodman as a guest judge.  Julianne has been tweeting her excitement about being a judge.  "Cannot wait for next week on #dwts the "angel with devil horns" is back!! Watch out!...… "

Julianne has also been spending some time with her family.  She had dinner with her visiting Dad, Bruce Hough and brother Derek on Friday night.

Saturday she was out on the town with friends Lily Collins and Nina Dobrev.  The girls and a group of friends took a party bus to the Universal Studios Hollywood Horror Nights.  Sounds like the girls are getting a jump on Halloween.
Hough also attended a Kind Campaign event in Portland on Sunday.  The Kind Campaign educates girls about bullying and encourages girls to join together to stop girl on girl violence.

Julianne was also spotted looking at houses for sale in Los Feliz.  Looks like she is ready to move forward with her new life.  She is making a good start with a new man and a new house.

Julianne had a busy week last week!  Tonight she kicks off a new week with her spot as DWTS guest judge.  It should be an interesting night!
